Pathway to JCU

Students can package their TIES English language studies with courses at James Cook University. Applicants who have successfully completed the TIES program within the Currency Period will satisfy the English entry requirements for direct entry into selected JCU courses. These courses are delivered by JCU at its Townsville and Cairns campuses, North Queensland, Australia. Courses excluded from the direct entry pathway are all courses with English Language requirements as listed under Bands 2, 3a, 3b and 3c of the JCU Admissions Policy, Schedule II. For these excluded courses, students will have to sit an external English language test like IELTS or PTE before they can gain entry into the university course. TIES has an official PTE test centre on campus and the school will assist students in preparation of their exam. TIES students will even have the opportunity to book a mock test prior to their final PTE exam. TIES is here to assist students in their learning journey by packaging the English course with direct entry to selected JCU courses or alternatively, giving students the option to study in preparation to sit a PTE test for acceptance into other JCU courses (Bands 2, 3a, 3b and 3C of the JCU Admissions Policy, Schedule II).
